Elijah turns 1

Elijah is so loved.  I wanted to start this blog post with that sentence... so there it is.  He is such a cute, sweet and loving boy no wonder his family and friends go ga-ga over him.  It was such a pleasure to spend the afternoon photographing his 1st birthday.

mmm... jelly beans!!  Thanks to my hubby, Joel, for taking these detail shots.

I can't help but squeal when I see this photo.  That face and that hair... so cute.

Just a sweet portrait of an incredibly gorgeous family.

Elijah's guests definitely had a wonderful time...

This is one of my favorite moments.  I am such a sucker for adoring glances.

Fresh Air

After spending so much time inside the MGM Grand for WPPI we rented a car and headed out to Red Rock Canyon for some much needed fresh air.

Before we headed back to our hotel I jumped out of the car for a few more shots.  My husband took this one of yours truly.

Today I am heading out to Vegas to attend WPPI and I am seriously too excited to sleep (it's 2am and I need to be up in a few hours).  I am just really looking forward to learning so much more about this business and to meet other people who share a common passion.  It is going to be an incredible time!

There will be many blog posts upon my return.

Nuala's 3rd Birthday

One of the sweetest and coolest little girls turned 3 last week and I was there to capture all the fun and happiness going on.  The party was held at Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia.  They did such a wonderful job finding new and interesting projects for all the young guests.

Nuala is making sure I know who the birthday girl is

Helping out with the balloon color selection

Party time is serious business

I hope Nuala remembers moments like this when she gets older

I loved watching the kids make big flowers out of all the colored tissue paper.  Definitely an upgrade from the actual tissues and tin foil I used to make this craft

The balloons were a big hit too!!

The party was such a fun time and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the kids over at the painting section.  Whether they were using their brushes or fingers it was all so creative

Isn't this the sweetest family portrait?  I love how Nuala has her arms around her Mom and Dad; she is such a big girl

Happy Birthday Nuala!

Multitasking!

During the encore performance of Happy Birthday I decided to whip out my Flip video and catch the blissful singing in action. However, I also wanted to keep taking photos so my video aim was WAY off.

They really want those cupcakes!!!

More from Nuala's party coming soon!

The DeMarsilis Family

I had such a wonderful time doing this photo session.  Not only are they such a photogenic family but so much fun to be around.  I could do a whole blog post on funny outtakes but for now I will leave you with the gorgeous DeMarsilis Family.

This photo makes me smile every time I see it

I love you guys!  Thank you for inviting me over and letting me capture what makes you all such an incredible family.

It's been awhile!

Hopefully 2009 will be the year that I get more comfortable with blogging.  When I have photo sessions to post it's not a problem at all.  It's when things get slow that I back away from my blog not knowing what to say and what to share.  So I hope you all will bear with me while I work on my blogging skills!

Two weeks into this new year and I am so excited for what's in store.  I have booked photo sessions that I am so excited about and Joel and I are headed to London, next week, to visit his sister and meet up with a few friends.  I just have a feeling that this is going to be a very fun year.

Just a glimpse of my Christmas Day outfit

Congratulations Nancy and Rob

I just received the wonderful news that Nancy gave  birth, yesterday morning, to a beautiful baby boy.  I am so happy for you both and am looking forward to meeting him.

I seriously cannot believe that I took these photos less than a month ago!

Random facts

I am still so new to the blogging world and sometimes forget to keep updating in between photo session blog posts. In real life I am ultra chatty but that hasn't quite translated to my blog.... yet. So here is my attempt to share some facts about me, especially since it is all so "fascinating".

- I love watching 30 Rock, The Soup, Lost and reruns of 90210 (the original series). Oh and I can't forget Arrested Development.
- My favorite foods are french fries, pizza and ice cream (which makes me, what, 8 years old?). I also love sushi, my mom's spanish rice, and anything my mother and father in law make.
- I love love LOVE to dance. If fun music is playing I will most likely be dancing to it or making up dance moves in my mind.
- I am obsessed with learning new buttercream frosting recipes. Any and all that don't require powdered sugar.
- Ever since I was little I wanted to start a company called Thatgirl. And yes, That is my last name. Well, now it is hyphenated but my husband understood that I didn't want it to be thatcacopardogirl photography.
- Speaking of a husband... I have the greatest most supportive husband EVER. Joel and I have been married since June 2007 but have been together for 7 years. We have realized that we are no longer funny but still manage to make one another laugh like crazy.

and so this post is not without a photo here is something else about me:
-I like playing dress up and have a lot of fun making faerie dust in Photoshop

For A Whole Year

For the past year I have been working on a photography project. The rule was simple: take one photo a day for an entire year. Sounded easy enough but at times that rule was the hardest thing about my day. There were days when I would have over 50 images to choose from as my one photo for the day. Then there were times when it would be 11:58pm and I would grab Joel for a last minute 'self portrait +1' shot.  Although I photographed anything from pretty flowers to my dinner or an unwanted sofa chair left on the sidewalk; my favorite photographs are those of the people in my life.  I also turned the camera on myself numerous times.  It was an incredible experience and although on certain days it felt like a complete chore, I am really happy that I took the time to photograph each day.

Here is my Day 365 shot!

And since it was a leap year I kept going to Day 366

warmth

It feels so wonderful visiting my in laws and spending time in their cozy home.  It's easy to walk around their house and want to photograph every corner and detail.  My mother-in-law and I share a love for carnations and daisies so I couldn't help but snap a photo of her bright and cheery windowsill.

Baby Lily

I had a feeling I was going to fall in love with this girl the moment I met her.  And I was 100% right, especially when I heard those adorable coos in person.

Lily has a soft spot for her daddy's jokes and his impersonation of Jimmy Stewart.

Miss Lily is so sweet even her bits of drool are charming.

She wasn't too keen on the hat at first, but she got over her fears and modeled it like a champ.

Thank you Lily for being such a wonderful baby and letting me capture you in all your cuteness!
