Kale. Purple flowers.

I feel like I should admit something. I don't know how to blog. If I were just blogging portrait sessions or a wedding then I would know what to do but this whole lifestyle/mommy blogging is so confusing. Is it okay to do multiple posts in one day and then none for a few days? Are there rules? Do I have to abide by them? Sometimes I want to post photos but then look at the lot and realize they don't go together. But who cares, right? Right?? Because if I want to post a photo of kale and then some flowers picked from our backyard, I should be able to. No really... am I able to?

kale.jpg
I bought a bunch of produce for the week and just dove into pears, apples with cheese, cucumbers (i LOVE cucumbers and don't understand why I don't eat them more), orange slices with pepper (Thanks Summer), red peppers and kale. I really love kale in all forms, raw, sauteed, and baked into chips. I saw this post and just substituted kale for the collard greens and added some cider vinegar.

And here are some pretty purple flowers that are scattered around our backyard. For the past 7 years any back area I've had has been concrete so to have grass and pretty pretty flowers is such a treat! Picking flowers reminds me of my friend Kristin and her nature loving kids. I can't wait for/ hope for little treasures picked by my little boy.

I guess I'm just going to do what feels right for me in regards to my posts buuuuuuut any insight would be appreciated! Have a great weekend (although I'm sure I'll be posting in a few more hours).

In the kitchen, putting away the dishes, listening to this song on repeat!

There's a Bear in the Bed!

I love hotel beds! Now I check them much more thoroughly but I still love them. They have been the subject of my photographs for a long time. I could spend a whole day in a hotel room with just my camera.

The Smiles Returning to the Faces

I really wanted to post these photos because it was such a sweet time in the afternoon last week. We've been cooped up this long cold lonely winter and it's so awesome to see Jonah out in the sunshine enjoying himself. Sometimes I get worried that he'll be a hermit like me and get too comfortable being indoors. I want to get out a lot this spring and summer and I think Jonah is going to help me with that!

Dance Party Monday: You've Got To Set 'Em Up

I decided to put on a random mix and when this song came on I saw my baby boy start bouncing. These past few days he's been too busy walking to really care about dancing. But when he heard these beats I saw his booty bounce.

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty relaxed but super enjoyable! I was on a search for toddler jeggings but was defeated. I guess I was too late to the game and couldn't find them in J's size. Oh, I'm also trying a new way of eating. I've really been inspired by this lady and this post! Of course I would be lying if I said I wasn't in it for the weight loss but really I am ALWAYS so sluggish... all the time! I am not feeding my body well (my body knows no bounds when it comes to cupcake consumption) and I want to change that! I want to be an energetic mother and feel healthier. Game on!!!

The Easter Bunny Brings Cheerios

easter1.jpg
It took Jbear way too long to get into finding the eggs scattered around the living room. But once he realized there were cheerios inside, the smiles came out and the shaking began.

easter2.jpg
Then the cheerios fell to the carpet and the eating began...

easter4.jpg
and continued. I guess the 2, 5, 10 second rule doesn't apply when cheerios are involved.

I hope you are all recovering from your peeps and jelly bean comas!

Philly in Spring!

We spent a great weekend in Philly going around to some of our favorite spots!

philatrip1.jpg

philatrip2.jpg
Famous 4th Deli is probably our most favorite spot in Philly. We lunched on pickles, mashed potatoes, a turkey rueben, and latkes. Oh and cookies... those delicious 4th street cookies. Joel and I split the sandwich but I got my own order of latkes.

philatrip3.jpg
I would make a trip down to Philly just to go to Repo. Anything to support independent music stores! This time we picked up Foo Fighters Wasting Light and No Color by the Dodos.

Oysters from The Oyster House and Nachos from Royal Tavern.

Yarn bombing to the extreme! Parking meters get a little more colorful.

Going to Yogorino was a must stop. Frozen delicious yogurt with pistachio sauce and fresh blueberries.

a birthday hike

Joel is into going on hikes. Something that a girl from Long Island knows nothing about. Unless going on a hike meant trekking to various 7-11's to find pina colada slurpees.

The Saturday after his birthday we kind of went for hike but really it was us walking a few feet into a woodsy area, taking some photos, realizing it was way too cold to not have gloves on and running back to the car. Then we found a house around the block from where we live and took some more photos, with the car still running. Here are some photos from our "adventure".

Because Spider-Man is Awesome

I met Brittany of Blossoming Bellies when I was looking for a doula when I was pregnant with Jonah. I couldn't believe I met someone so encouraging, spirited and patient to help me and Joel during the last stages of my pregnancy. I no longer felt scared about delivery, but empowered and educated. Her help didn't end when my baby was born- it carries on as I tend to still rely on her for advice.

Before I left Philadelphia I was able to do a family session with Britt and her family. It was so much fun hanging out with her son who was Spiderman for the afternoon. He jumped, scaled fences and even threw out his spidey web. This is why I love photographing kids!!!

I love jelly belly jelly beans... but only a few flavors. So imagine my happiness when I found millions of Jelly Belly single flavor containers. I think my crazy face explains it all.

Joel took this from the backseat of the car. Those horns were intense especially in person!
