Congratulations Nancy and Rob

I just received the wonderful news that Nancy gave  birth, yesterday morning, to a beautiful baby boy.  I am so happy for you both and am looking forward to meeting him.

I seriously cannot believe that I took these photos less than a month ago!

Random facts

I am still so new to the blogging world and sometimes forget to keep updating in between photo session blog posts. In real life I am ultra chatty but that hasn't quite translated to my blog.... yet. So here is my attempt to share some facts about me, especially since it is all so "fascinating".

- I love watching 30 Rock, The Soup, Lost and reruns of 90210 (the original series). Oh and I can't forget Arrested Development.
- My favorite foods are french fries, pizza and ice cream (which makes me, what, 8 years old?). I also love sushi, my mom's spanish rice, and anything my mother and father in law make.
- I love love LOVE to dance. If fun music is playing I will most likely be dancing to it or making up dance moves in my mind.
- I am obsessed with learning new buttercream frosting recipes. Any and all that don't require powdered sugar.
- Ever since I was little I wanted to start a company called Thatgirl. And yes, That is my last name. Well, now it is hyphenated but my husband understood that I didn't want it to be thatcacopardogirl photography.
- Speaking of a husband... I have the greatest most supportive husband EVER. Joel and I have been married since June 2007 but have been together for 7 years. We have realized that we are no longer funny but still manage to make one another laugh like crazy.

and so this post is not without a photo here is something else about me:
-I like playing dress up and have a lot of fun making faerie dust in Photoshop

For A Whole Year

For the past year I have been working on a photography project. The rule was simple: take one photo a day for an entire year. Sounded easy enough but at times that rule was the hardest thing about my day. There were days when I would have over 50 images to choose from as my one photo for the day. Then there were times when it would be 11:58pm and I would grab Joel for a last minute 'self portrait +1' shot.  Although I photographed anything from pretty flowers to my dinner or an unwanted sofa chair left on the sidewalk; my favorite photographs are those of the people in my life.  I also turned the camera on myself numerous times.  It was an incredible experience and although on certain days it felt like a complete chore, I am really happy that I took the time to photograph each day.

Here is my Day 365 shot!

And since it was a leap year I kept going to Day 366

warmth

It feels so wonderful visiting my in laws and spending time in their cozy home.  It's easy to walk around their house and want to photograph every corner and detail.  My mother-in-law and I share a love for carnations and daisies so I couldn't help but snap a photo of her bright and cheery windowsill.

Baby Lily

I had a feeling I was going to fall in love with this girl the moment I met her.  And I was 100% right, especially when I heard those adorable coos in person.

Lily has a soft spot for her daddy's jokes and his impersonation of Jimmy Stewart.

Miss Lily is so sweet even her bits of drool are charming.

She wasn't too keen on the hat at first, but she got over her fears and modeled it like a champ.

Thank you Lily for being such a wonderful baby and letting me capture you in all your cuteness!

Ali and Jason

It is so great to be in the company of a couple who really know how to have fun in front of the camera.  It is also a pleasure to see how much love and laughter go into Ali and Jason's relationship.   They are expecting a baby girl in December so we headed over to Washington Square Park (Philadelphia's version) so I could capture all their cutesy affection and excitement in public.

I had an idea for a photo; right down to body position and hand placement.  But I had to let Jason call the shots when I was capturing this image.  I think my heart melted just a bit when I saw the two (soon to be three) of them like this.

Thank you Ali and Philly (it is hard calling you Jason) for such a fun afternoon.  I am so excited for you two and can't wait to eventually meet your little girl.
P.S. move back to the east coast.

Moontides in 23,149 parts

When Leslie Guyton, co- founder and director of Movement Workshop Group, said she needed a photographer to shoot her company's dress rehearsal I jumped at the opportunity.  I was instantly brought back to my years of dance and what it felt like to be on stage; the lights, the music, the movement.  It was such a thrilling photo shoot and I was blown away by the talent that existed on the stage that day.

If you are in the New York or Boston area I strongly suggest getting tickets to this performance, when they come around.  I will definitely be going to the New York City show.
More info on Moontides in 23, 149 parts can be found here.

Kim

Kimberly Hurst lovingly asked me to take some portraits of her for her website and blog.  We finally set up a portrait session and took our photo shoot to some of my favorite nooks in Philadelphia.  I am really happy with the results, but how can I not, "Hello Gorgeous".  It looks like she knows how to work it behind the camera and in front of it, as well.

Kim's husband Kyle got in on some photos and went as far as offering to shoot the whole session himself.  Maybe another time, Kyle.

I just love this outtake of some hair shakin' action.

I simply have to mention Janine from Salon Vanity who gave Kimberly an incredible blow out!

Blue Eyes

I must have over 1000 images of this blue eyed cutie.  Well, seeing as I was her nanny for over a year and had my camera with me everyday, that number doesn't seem so outrageous.  Right now I am looking over album options because I definitely want to put a book together; a nanny diary, of sorts, but with photographs of the cutest little girl ever.

Aren't her expressions amazing?!  I have many smiling photos but this face that she makes just slays me.
